Lightness Chair

Taking material inspiration from the warmth and lightness of Scandinavian architecture, this chair balances soft surface and hard surface, volume and line, and re-shapes the traditional form of a chair both functionally and sculpturally. The materials include solid cherry legs, a birch seat with cherry veneer, steel hardware, and cotton jersey upholstery.

Blocks Ring

This ring depicts a map of a childhood neighborhood, combining the technical aspects of cartography with the emotion of memory. It is hand-crafted in silver and has a hollow band.

This chair's legs are made out of 100% recyclable HDPE and LDPE (polyethylene film) bags. They were constructed in a heat compressing process, and because there are no glues or additives, they can be easily removed and recycled. The chair back is made from vacuum bent birch, and the hardware is custom made.

These are concept boards for a dining table with carved place settings. Dishes and utensils fit perfectly in place, referencing classical table manners.

This berry packaging and point-of-purchase display is geared towards engaging and educating children about healthy eating habits. The two-part packaging can be reused as a sippy-cup, bowl, portable container or toy. In the act of "picking" the blueberry from the display tree, kids get a better idea of where their food comes from.

In a team of seven, we redesigned the Progressive Insurance Co. “MyRate” device and system. We developed, from the ground up, primary and secondary packaging, a website, and a simple consumer interface that reflected the goals of the company. We paid special attention to consumer interaction, marketability and environmentally friendly materials and production.

Packaging and System Design

Streamlined and simple, the original shipping materials may be reused and recycled if the customer chooses to upgrade or leave

the program. The device, made of recycled tire rubber, can be returned and recycled as well. Customized installation and product instructions are printed directly on packaging to reduce material. On the website, user data is uploaded daily and displayed on a personalized web page.

Subloom! is an adhesive vinyl vase that can be easily applied to a surface and filled with water to create a flexible art installation. Originally created for use in the New York City subway as a positive and semi-permanent alternative to graffiti. The goals of this product are to inspire conversation while commuting on the subway and bring a natural element into an urban environment. It has potential applications in public spaces and in the home.
